We can often be guilty of throwing around words that we assume everyone understands while we often fail to explore or comprehend their true meaning ourselves. “Gospel” is one of those words. We can add to it, subtract from it, and recreate it. Even invent new versions. What’s true and what’s fake? Where do we potentially add to it and subtract from it? This series deals
with the age-old cultural and internal battles between Good News and fake news – it’s news that shapes how you live your life.

It’s said that the best way to spot a counterfeit is to know the real thing. The same is true of the Gospel. Not to master it in a cerebral, objective sense, but to be captured by the beauty of what God has done for us in Christ. In this three-week series, we’ll take time to rediscover the Good News in a world of fake news. By exploring the Gospel story (compared to other cultural metanarratives), the announcement (through Jesus), and the community described by the Bible we compare it each week with fake gospels (both spiritual and secular) that our culture offers as false hope.
